Cultureka is an innovative lamp that uses advanced face-tracking technology to detect your emotions and adjust its light color accordingly. The lamp reads facial expressions and, based on your emotional state, changes its color to create the perfect atmosphere.

This project combines technology with design to enhance the emotional connection between the user and their environment.

Blocking is a cold strategy to end an emotional relationship. Nevertheless, it is also used to deal with haters. But is a single click really enough to put an end to that harassment? Even if you cut off communication online, the harassment may still persist beyond the screen.

Therefore, blocking is no longer effective. Harassment can persist beyond the screen, and when you block one hater, another may appear. Haters that continue to exist in reality.

The composition of the label is minimalist and evocative: a delicate illustration shows a group of isolated people, immersed in their own dialogue, whispering among themselves. The title Murmuri is embossed, a detail that reinforces the idea of the whisper, a discreet, subtle presence, that does not seek to draw attention, but is there.

This project was commissioned by Sant Joan de Déu Children's Hospital. Cultureka was specifically designed to help young patients externalize their emotions in a non-verbal way. The lamp allows doctors and medical staff to perceive the child's emotional state before entering the consultation room, enabling more empathetic and personalized care.

Additionally, to encourage children to engage with the lamp and focus their attention on it, a set of trivia cards has been integrated, offering playful questions that provide a positive distraction while their emotional state is being reflected.

The interactive box, inspired by the classic game Whack-a-Mole, playfully and critically represents the impossibility of completely eliminating digital harassment.

I used face-tracking technology with Arduino, which recognized 36 different facial landmarks to identify emotions such as disgust, joy, sadness, indifference, and fear.

Each emotion was linked to a specific color, which was displayed through the lamp’s LED strips. In this way, the lamp recorded and visualized the emotions experienced over time, creating a continuous emotional trace.
